COMMON TAILORING TERMS
	Shorten	Garment is made shorter.
	Shorten no cuff	Slack or pant hem is made shorter with NO CUFF at hem.
	Shorten with cuff	Slack or pant hem is made shorter WITH A CUFF at hem.
	Shorten both legs different	When both legs are marked at a different length.
	Shorten slant to back	Slack or pant hem is made shorter in the front and longer in the back.

	Jeans shorten (Two options)	Option 1: When hem of jean is cut and re-sewn using same colored thread as designer.
		Option 2: When hem of jean is not cut so that the original hem remains on the bottom of the jean after shortened.

	Lengthen	Garment is made longer.
	Lengthen all the way	Slack or pant hem is lengthened as much as possible by creating a false hem.
	Lengthen no cuff	Slack or pant hem is made longer with NO CUFF at hem.
	Lengthen with cuff	Slack or pant hem is made longer WITH A CUFF.
		(Note: When an article is lengthened, quite often, the old hemline will be evident)

	Taper slacks/pants	Slack or pant legs are taken in from top to bottom to make narrow.
	Take in waist	Waist is made smaller.
	Let out waist	Waist is made larger.
	Take in seat	Seat is made smaller.
	Let out seat	Seat is made larger.
	Take in crotch	Crotch is made smaller
	Let out crotch	Crotch is made larger
	New Zipper	New Zipper in pants/skirts/slacks/etc.
	Blind Zipper	A zipper that is blind usually found on skirts and ladies slacks.

	Shorten sleeves	Sleeves are raised to make shorter
	Lengthen sleeves	Sleeves are let down to make longer (* May have evidence of old hem line)

	Reinforce	Buttons, open seams, etc.
